How to measure: no soft tape? Use a piece of string around the neck, mark it and lay it against a ruler. Two fingers should slide under the finished collar, and your number should fall inside the range, ideally near the middle.
Buying for someone else? Ask for a neck measurement, or go by the collar their dog wears now and choose the size whose range has that number near the middle.
